Gannon University Introduces Two New Cybersecurity Programs, I-HACK Facility
Gannon University introduced two new programs focusing on cybersecurity and cyber engineering, as well as plans to create an Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge (I-HACK) in the Knight Tower, during a news conference Monday morning.
Students will have an opportunity to study cyber engineering, which is focused on the hardware-related components, and cybersecurity, which is centered primarily on software.
Cybercrime damage is expected to exceed $6 trillion in expenses annually by 2021, according to a report by Cybersecurity Ventures.
A new facility for the Institute for Health and Cyber Knowledge, I-HACK, will be located in Gannon’s Knight Tower. It will feature a security-controlled hacking lab, cyber defense lab, engineering labs, secure data center and two floors of flexible space to house external industry partners.
Students in the cyber programs will earn experience in IT security, mobile security and implementation, ethical hacking, cyber information security, data security, information assurance, server and cloud security.
Graduates will be able to use their skills in a variety of career fields, including health care, hardware and software design, security services, secure data storage and security communication.
