Household HQ Helps Prepare Erie Region Prepare for Worst-Case Scenario: Giving You the Business
Mass shootings have become all too common in America. Sadly, these mass shootings take place at schools, supermarkets, and even places of worship.
David Kohl is stepping up to help people right in the Erie region be prepared for the worst-case scenario.
"We are seeing a resurgence of not only active shooters domestically, but internationally as well," said David.
Erie News Now captured him doing a presentation to a group in Girard. He's a certified instructor for ALIVE: Active Shooter Response Training.
It's just one of the services he provides through his company, Household HQ. The company was formed in 2020 after the birth of his first child.
"We wanted to get CPR training for our child and for our family," said David. "We wanted to make sure our home was safe and secure, and really we had to go to multiple places all at once."
Household HQ offers DIY products like security cameras but works with security company ADT through the Safe Streets program if installation is needed.
Kohl, who says he has worked in public, private, and homeland security, is also a licensed training provider through the American Red Cross, from CPR, AED, Narcan classes to Stop the Bleed courses.
The offerings are extended for workplace and school readiness.
Both the Girard School Resource Officer and Superintendent zeroed in on the active shooter presentation.
"It definitely is something that could be used but something you hope you never have to use, which is why it's so important to stay on top of the latest trainings," said David Koma, Girard Schools Superintendent.
And it's something people in the community feel could benefit their company or congregation. Like Glenn Campbell, who came in part to represent the Lake City Methodist Church.
"Somebody needs to have an idea so we are not all running around screaming," said Campbell.
Virtual, online, and pre-recorded training is also offered to groups as Household HQ works to adapt with any changing threat possibilities.
David Kohl, the business owner, says Household HQ will be opening up monthly CPR training courses for open enrollment starting in May at the Blasco Library.
