Woman Worries About Family in Milton's Path
The stress of the unknown impact of a hurricane is being felt by some in western Pennsylvania. A woman who used to live near Erie has family in the storm's path.
Maria Cannon, her husband and kids lived in Erie County for about 17 years. They moved closer to Pittsburgh a few years ago. Her parents and two siblings live around Tampa. Milton will be the third storm to affect them this year.
The first floor of her parents' condo building in St. Petersburg was wiped out during Hurricane Helene a few weeks ago.
Dump trucks have been clearing the remaining debris. During this storm, her parents will stay at her brother's house on the other side of Tampa Bay. Her sister, who lives near Sarasota, has also been getting ready. She'll be staying at a neighbor's house.
"I feel guilty for being up here and not being able to be with them and go through this with them," Cannon said.
"But, on the flipside, we have a place for them to be if they need to come north."
She asks people to pray for Florida. If you're not religious, she requests "good vibes."
