Milton is the second hurricane to hit Florida in a few weeks. That has made it hard for some people to get medicine.

A local pharmacy had problems shipping medicine south after Helene a few weeks ago.

Pharmacy Innovations, headquartered in western New York, has a location in Millcreek. They make custom medications for people around the country.

Many patients in the area lost power and washed out roads led to shipping delays.

The team at the Millcreek location had to remake about 200 prescriptions after Helene.

A prescription can take days to fill because of its complexity.

“We don’t have things on our shelf that we can just take and count out for you,” said pharmacist-in-charge Jennifer Barlekoff. “We go into the lab, we design the formula for exactly what the doctor wants for you.”

Barlekoff was working at the company’s location near Tampa when Helene hit. She said experiencing a hurricane’s power was eye-opening.
