Following in his mother's footsteps, an Ashtabula County native who grew up watching his mother run a sports card store, now has a store of his own. But no sports cards are sold or traded there.

Erie News Now takes you inside second store and most recent addition to the Millcreek Mall in this week's Giving You the Business Report, sponsored by the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership.

Boxes and boxes of games line the shelves. Everything from decades-old classics to new types of board and card games.

Chris Panzone owns In the Zone Gaming in September. It's his second store, and the first inside the Millcreek Mall.

He opened it 10 years after the original one, in Ashtabula County, Ohio. And while there are new games for sale, people can sell trading cards there, too.

"We've got a pretty good system to get them appraised and let you know what we can give you for them," said Chris.

But the second half of the business is this: a place to play. Bring your own games—or buy in-store ones.

"We also have the space open for organizations to come in and have their own game night," said Chris. "And there's always space to come, play games with your friends."

Wesley Partch and his dad are helping run the Erie County store. They are also longtime Pokémon players.

"I've played in three world championships," said Wesley.

And now, Wesley runs a weekly Pokémon League inside the new business.

"Everybody gets a pack of cards participating and we run a tournament," said Wesley. "Even if you lose, you don't get eliminated, you just get to keep playing and have a good time."

No electronics are sold inside, but there are game accessories like unique dice, card boxes and more.

If you can't find a certain card or game in this Erie store, you can head over to the kiosk and click through the inventory of what's in Ashtabula. And if you find something and order it, you'll be able to pick it up right here in Erie.

Goods range from all price points here in this store at the mall. Like in these binders, there's Pokémon cards that start at 50 cents ranging all the way up to $10.

But the most expensive item in the whole store is this rare, $4,000 Pokémon card.

"It is the iconic card of the set, from the first set printed from the first print run of the set," said Chris.

In the Zone Gaming is located across from Cinnabon, and near the JCPenney store in the mall.
