Relax & Enjoy the Ride with Rupp Limousine: Giving You the Business
In just over a month, a daughter will take over for a father. They are behind an East Erie business that makes driving for others their privilege.
Driving limo buses is part of the job for Kimberly Hafenstiner. The operational manager for Rupp Limousine has grown up with the business.
"I was 9 when he bought it, then as a teenager I would wash cars," said Kimberly.
Kimberly’s dad, Robert, bought the business more than 40 years ago.
"[I] Worked part-time for the Rupp family at the time. Started out of high school," said Robert.
At that time, Robert says the business was basically a funeral service with a few corporate limousines. Then trends started to change in the 1990s, to entertainment bookings.
It was 1999 that Rupp Limousine purchased the very first limo bus. The limousines can carry 14-28 passengers.
Daughter Kimberly, a registered counselor, left her work to become full-time in 2013. And got creative.
Planning out wine tours, now a big part of bookings. Along with local, holiday light tours that include pizza and pop in packages.
Weddings continue to be a big part of the business. Along with enhanced corporate transportation in the sedans and limos housed in the company’s garage.
"She has brought this company to a place I never would have," said Robert. "She brought a whole new perspective, a younger view. Knew what people were looking for and basically jumped in and put it to work."
Technology updates also allow passengers to sync phones for music. Photos can also be displayed for those on board.
The Rupp Limo Service also has a responsibility.
"At the end of the night if we pick up a group somewhere and say we meet them in a parking lot and one or two of the people on there have had too much to drink, we’re gonna take them home," said Robert.
It’s about making positive memories in the time spent traveling with Rupp.
"The reason why I want to continue is because my dad built [the business] on giving," said Kimberly
As Kimberly transitions to owner, she plans continued service and ride experiences for charity events.
While always keeping this message to passengers: relax and enjoy the ride.
