Gannon University is taking a first step that could lead to a 4-phase, $26 million upgrade and expabnsion of it's sports and recreation facililties.
We've learned the Gannon University Board of Trustees has approved architectural design work to expand the Gannon Recreation Center, and build a new indoor turf fieldhouse next door on West 4th Street
A final vote on the first 2 phases of the project is expected in February. If approved, work would start next spring, helping athletes, other students and the community.
Gannon President Keith Taylor said, "So it will enhance not only the athletic teams but also the wellness and fitness of all students. It will also allow us to continue to advance employee health and employee wellness on campus."
Taylor says having an indoor turf fieldhouse will be a major plus for Gannon sports teams. And it may lead to more club sports, intramural sports and community events.
