Erie News Now has learned the warden at the Crawford County Prison has resigned.

According to David Mitchell, the labor attorney representing Crawford County, Warden Kenneth Saulsbery resigned on October 8th.

Mitchell says Saulsbery was on administrative leave prior to his resignation, however, he was not suspended or disciplined in any way.

Mitchell, or any Crawford County Prison board members, say they cannot comment to Erie News Now on exactly why Saulsbery resigned, citing it’s a personnel matter.

Crawford County Commissioner Christopher Soff tells Erie News Now the Deputy Warden, Jack Greenfield, has stepped in and is filling the role of warden since Saulsbery’s resignation.

Soff says currently, there is no movement to hire an acting warden, as Greenfield is currently filling the role.

Saulsbery was hired as Crawford County Prison Warden in June of 2016, he had served as deputy warden at the prison for about 14 years.

His hiring followed the suspension of former Warden Tim Lewis, in March of 2016, who was suspended after being charged with stealing more than $130,000 from the Moose Lodge in East Fairfield Township.
