Tuesday is Erie Gives Day
Tuesday will mark the 10th anniversary of Erie Gives, an event where community members can donate to their favorite Erie area nonprofits.
The Erie Community Foundation, along with its sponsors, have worked to make Erie Gives Day a success for ten years. From its inception in 2010, Erie Gives has raised over $26 million.
In 2019, 391 nonprofits received $5,569,161 thanks to Erie Gives.
This year, however, organizers say nonprofits need community support more than ever before.
As the coronavirus pandemic continues to wreak havoc around the world, nonprofits have been hit especially hard. Many nonprofits provide services that must continue on a daily basis throughout the pandemic, all while experiencing decreasing resources.
Donors are able to use Visa, MasterCard or Discover to donate on Tuesday via the Erie Gives website. A minimum gift of $25 is required. There is no limit to the amount of money you can give, or the number of organizations to which you can donate.
The Erie Community Foundation and its sponsors will provide a prorated match to each gift made to a nonprofit. The prorated match pool is $400,000, the highest in the history of Erie Gives.
Online donations will be accepted from 8 a.m. through 8 p.m. Tuesday, August 11.
