“But now it’s like I am an only child.”

16-year-old Mackenzie Weber lost both of her half siblings, 13-year-old Madison and 10-year-old Zachary in Monday’s tragedy that unfolded on Sampson Road in Greene township.

“It still hasn’t set in all the way,” she said.

Investigators learned 48-year-old Richard Zimmer didn't show up to a custody hearing for the kids Monday and through their investigation state police were able to piece together that Zimmer shot and killed both of his children and then set fire to the home. That’s something that Weber, who shared a mother with these two young children said is unimaginable.

“You shouldn’t have to go through losing one child, let alone two,” Weber said. “We’re all just trying to be there for her (mom) and let her its okay to feel things and she doesn’t have to be strong for anyone because we’re all here for her.”

Weber stepped up to the plate to create a GoFundMe page to help her mother with funeral expenses for both children.

Overnight, there was an outpouring of community support.

“I did not know the community could stand behind me this much and support me and my family,” Weber said. “I want to thank every single person who has donated and who is going to donate in the future. You are helping my family tremendously.”
