It was the first day of school UPMC Jameson School of Nursing.

The school is currently located at the former Wayne School on 6th and East Avenue. This nursing school is also a partnership with Gannon University. 

When plans first got underway for the nursing school, they had 54 students registered.

On Monday, 100 students attended a luncheon to celebrate the first day of school and the beginning of their careers in nursing.

One student we spoke to is a mom to six children and she can't wait to get started in the classroom.


Tiana Holcombe said, "It's a bit surreal, I'm excited, we are all very excited. They've been so good to us, it's been amazing to see the support behind us and just to see the people that want to see us succeed, it's amazing".


This is a fast track program, so students will be completed with it in 16 months.
