The Community Blood Bank is asking for help to replenish its blood supply after seeing a dip in donors over the long holiday weekend.

The Blood Bank is encouraging new and existing donors to make an appointment or attend an upcoming blood drive:

  • St. Vincent Health Center | Wednesday, Sept. 8, 11:30 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Erie Institute of Technology | Friday, Sept. 10, 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

“The need for blood is constant," said Erin Tighe, community relations specialist for the Community Blood Bank, in a statement. "Our regular blood donors give consistently, but we simply need more people to decide to donate blood. Now is the time for you to help your neighbors by rolling up your sleeve and giving someone the gift of life.”

Community Blood Bank partners with hospitals in northwest Pennsylvania and western New York. Blood donations go right back in to the community to help anyone in need of a transfusion.

Anyone who can donate can call 814-688-3696 to make an appointment. Appointments are not required but can reduce your wait time.

Walk-ins will be taken as space allows.

Donors must be least 17 years of age, weigh a minimum of 110 pounds and be in good general health.
