Catholic Health in Western New York,is making service changes starting tomorrow.

With a strike deadline looming, Mercy Hospital will divert ambulances to other facilities and suspend all inpatient elective surgeries.

The Health Care provider is currently in contract negotiations with the Union representing nurses and health care workers.

A strike date has been set for Friday, October 1st. 

More than 2,500 employees are calling for a new contract to address staffing levels, wages and benefits.

In a statement released by Catholic Health, it said, "we continue to bargain in good faith, but both sides remain tens of millions of dollars apart." 

Erie News Now spoke with a number of Mercy Hospital Nurses, prior to the Bills game in Buffalo on Sunday. 

The Union agreed to a one-year contract extension in August of 2020.
