Erie County is reporting 74 new coronavirus (COVID-19) cases as of 11:59 p.m. Sunday, bringing the total case count to 27,158.

159 additional cases were reported as of the end of the day Saturday and 147 Friday.

Three new coronavirus-related deaths have been reported, raising the total number since March 2020 to 517.

The county's COVID-19 transmission rate is still listed as high, which means the county is seeing more than 100 positive cases per 100,000 people.

Centers for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines recommend all people, including those fully vaccinated and those who are immunocompromised, wear masks indoors if they live in areas with substantial or high transmission rates.

Masks are now required in all Pennsylvania public and private schools, as well as child care facilities.

Vaccines for COVID-19 are available for free for people ages 12 years and older. Finding vaccines in nearby locations can be done by:

  • texting your ZIP Code to 438829
  • visiting vaccines.gov
  • calling 1-800-232-0233

Anyone who is unvaccinated is being reminded to get tested for COVID-19 if exposed to someone who is positive for COVID-19 or showing symptoms such as coughing, difficulty breathing, fever or chills, muscle or body aches, vomiting or diarrhea, or loss of taste or smell.
