All weekend long, Erie News Now is teaming up with the City of Erie to keep members of our community warm this winter.
Our annual Community Coats project kicked off this morning, and continues this weekend in Perry Square.
We are accepting winter items of all kinds this year. That's everything from gloves, to hats, to scarves, and of course winter coats. So far, the drive has been a huge success. We even ran out of coats at one point on Friday.
Our general manager, Pam Forsyth was in Perry Square all day Friday. She says there's a story behind every item dropped off and picked up. “There is a story behind every coat. There’s addiction, there’s loss of jobs, illness, and then there’s recovery and people helping other people. It’s really heartwarming,” she said.
Erie News Now is still accepting items until Sunday, November 7th. Take what you need, and leave what you can. No questions asked.
