Crawford County District Attorney Rules Officer-Involved Shooting as Justified
The Crawford County District Attorney found the troopers who shot a suspect while serving an arrest warrant were justified in their use of force following an investigation, Pennsylvania State Police said Thursday.
District Attorney Paula Digiacomo made the ruling Thursday after reviewing police reports, witness statements, audio and video recordings and photographs.
Troopers went to the suspect's residence in the 18500 block of Birch Dr. in Saegertown just after 7 p.m. on Dec. 26.
While serving the warrant, the suspect had and brandished a gun at a trooper, which caused troopers to discharge their guns, according to State Police.
The suspect was injured but was given medical treatment and taken to UPMC Hamot. He was taken into custody on the arrest warrant afterwards.
The arrest warrant was issued for simple assault by physical menace, terroristic threats, recklessly endangering another person and harassment for an incident at the same residence on Christmas, according to State Police.
The troopers were dressed in full uniform at the time, State Police said.
