Police Charge Pair in Shooting Death of 7-Year-Old Erie Boy
City of Erie Police have charged two people in the fatal shooting of a 7-year-old boy who was walking in his east Erie neighborhood last month.
Yassin Ibrahim, 19, of the 1900 block of Fairmount Pkwy., has been arrested and charged with:
- Conspiracy to commit criminal homicide
- Criminal homicide
- Recklessly endangering another person
Abdullah Ismael, 17, of the 1700 block of E. 27th St., has been arrested and charged as an adult with:
- Conspiracy to commit criminal homicide
- Criminal homicide
- Aggravated assault
- Recklessly endangering another person
- Firearms not to be carried without a license
Despite the charges, police said the investigation is still ongoing. No additional information is being released at this time.
Antonio "Espn" Yarger Jr. was shot in the head while walking with his brother and other boys at the corner of Downing Ave. and Fairmount Pkwy. on April 14.
Yarger was taken to UPMC Hamot then transferred to Pittsburgh Children’s Hospital where he died April 18.
A Take Back the Site vigil is planned for Tuesday in Yarger's memory. It will start at 5:15 p.m. at the corner of Downing Ave. and Fairmount Pkwy.
Police had been talking to neighbors and potential witnesses and reviewing Ring doorbell and other security camera video from the area as part of the investigation.
