Sen. Casey Pushes to Lower Prescription Drug Costs
U.S. Sen. Bob Casey is continuing to push for lower prescription drug costs.
Casey met with several senior citizens at the Greater Erie Community Action Committee (GECAC) to talk about how those high costs are impacting their lives.
Casey also expressed his support for the Inflation Reduction Act, which recently passed through the Senate.
The new law aims to lower health care costs for seniors and includes capping the cost of insulin at $35 per month.
"Too many families with young children, and people of all ages are struggling with the cost of insulin," said Sen. Casey. "The medication was created over 100 years and the cost keeps going through the roof. There's no excuse for that cap not being in place."
The bill also puts a cap on annual out of pocket Medicare costs at $2,000.
