Jake Banta is a political newcomer, but in a newly redrawn, heavily Republican District, he's likely to win a job in Harrisburg, as he competes in Pennsylvania's 4th house district.
On abortion rights, Banta says he sees the issue as nuanced.
In a phone call, he called for debate about the issue, suggesting he might support limitations that carve out exceptions for instances like rape and incest.
The former Navy Seal is firmly opposed to gun control legislation, positioning himself as a champion of individual liberty, and when it comes to the economy, Banta points to businesses that struggle to find workers, saying covid stimulus checks are to blame.
He says curbing government spending and regulation will ease economic concerns.
When it comes to donors, Banta's campaign appears to be largely funded by friends and family, but in statewide races, it's hard to say.
Candidates filed finance reports after the May primaries, but they don't have to provide any updated filings until after the election in November.
