Verizon cell phone service has been restored after a fiber cut caused an outage for some customers in the Erie area, a company spokesperson told Erie News Now.

We learned around 11:30 a.m. Thursday the fiber was fixed, and all services were restored.

The outage reportedly started late Wednesday night.

According to outage tracking website Down Detector, about 2,000 Verizon customers started having cell phone service outages around midnight, and they continued Thursday morning.

Verizon encourages customers to turn on WiFi calling to make sure they can make or receive calls during service outages. Information on WiFi calling is available here.
