On Kentucky Derby Day, Presque Isle downs offers racing fans not only the chance to watch the race itself but also other events to take part in throughout the day.

They offer a party on the patio event, where people can enjoy drinks and the sunshine, before hosting a fancy hat competition. Contestants wear a hat they have bought or some even make their own. This year's winner Erika Reeves decided to make her own. "I love making my hats, I love watching the derby, and I love Presque Isle Downs," Reeves said.

Ron Sorvelli, who watched the Kentucky Derby at Presque Isle Downs said there was only one place he would rather be at. "It is fabulous, I would not want to be anywhere else except Louisville," Sorvelli said.

After the race concluded, Patrick Morell, a Simulcast Host at Presque Isle Downs gave his thoughts on the race. "What an exciting race to watch here at Presque Isle Downs, Mage, the son of Good Magic, got it done and ran a huge race," Morell said.
