Monday's procession started in Corry with troopers escorting Trooper Jacques "Jay" Rougeau Jr.'s body from the funeral home to the Bayfront Convention Center.

The hearse, escorted by dozens of troopers, left the funeral home in Corry. It traveled to Erie where family and friends spent the day saying goodbye.

Along the route, the procession passed Lake Pleasant Flower Shoppe where owner Kelly Huzinec made sure to pay tribute to Rougeau.

"I had heard that the procession was going to go by, so I did a ribbon and stuck it on our post over there and then figured I would put the sign out front, so that the procession would see it when they went by," said Huzinec.

She knows his family and says the last week has been difficult.

"Tears, tears," said Huzinec. "I have two little boys that I had come out and witness it. I had delivered a couple of pieces at the Bayfront [Convention Center] this morning, so I had seen that as well, early and early before I got back. That was heartbreaking."

Corry was just the beginning. An even larger crowd awaited Trooper Rougeau and his family when the procession arrived in Erie.
