Erie's Public Schools to Host Hearing Regarding Construction of New Elementary School
Erie's Public Schools will be holding an Act 134 hearing on Monday, July 24th regarding construction of the new Edison Elementary School.
The hearing will be held at the current Edison Elementary School at 7 p.m.
Erie's Public Schools said the hearing is an opportunity for the pubic to learn about the $34 million project. This is the first new school construction in district in 25 years.
The project will include the demolition of the existing school on East Lake Road and construction of a new 80,000 square foot building south of the current school's playground.
Additionally, the site plan includes a modern interior courtyard, a separate gymnasium and cafeteria and a loop road for student pick up and drop off.
According to Erie's Public Schools, the new Edison will house as many 600 students.
Construction is scheduled to begin this summer and is expected to be completed by fall 2025.
