United Electrical Workers union members on Thursday voted to ratify the new contract offered by Wabtec, ending a two-month strike.

Workers filed into the Warner Theatre throughout the day to learn about the contract and cast their vote.

The agreement increases wages, time off for new employees, improves benefits and addresses the grievance process, according to the company.

“This contract represents a substantial improvement over what Wabtec had on the table in June,” said Scott Slawson, president of UE Local 506. “We are proud of the resolve of the membership over 70 days on the picket line. As a result of the action taken by our members, we made both economic and non-economic gains. The membership has voted to ratify this agreement. It's time to get back to work.”

A copy of the agreement is posted here.

The 1,400 workers at the Wabtec plant in Lawrence Park have been on strike since voting down a proposed agreement on June 22.
