A new Veteran's Outreach and Wellness Center will be coming to the Erie community.

The Mellon Heritage Foundation purchased the former Mercyhurst University North East campus that will be used to help provide support to veterans.

On Saturday, Richard Mellon spent four hours touring the facility that will be transformed to help veterans.

He was joined by local politicians, veterans and veteran supporters to talk about the property and what it will be used for and how it will help those in need.

Some of those who attended included State Representative Jake Banta, Representative Mike Kelly, former Governor Tom Ridge along with his wife, Michelle, Joe Benacci from the Veterans Affairs office and Joe Pfadt, the President of Warriors to Washington.

Mellon said one of the first things he plans to do is reach out to the community to get their input about the property.
