The Millcreek Township treasurer is on paid administrative leave tonight.
Supervisors won't say exactly why, and one township official says the optics are awful, and says he's concerned about possible litigation.
At yesterday's township supervisors' meeting, supervisors, in a 2-1 vote, tabled a proposal to keep Mark Zaksheske as the township treasurer.
They say he's on paid administrative leave.
Supervisors Kim Clear and Dan Ouellet voted to table the plan, putting Zaksheske on administrative leave.
Supervisor Jim Bock voted against it.
Zaksheske had been critical of the plan to buy and redevelop properties along West 8th Street near Presque Isle, although it is important to note that there is no evidence that that's why he's now on leave.
Supervisors won't offer a defined reason, saying it's a personnel matter.
Township auditor and former supervisor John Groh today said the situation looked bad, saying he was limiting his comments because of possible litigation.

"Supervisor Dan Ouellet came into my office and said that Kim Clear and him had decided not to reappoint the treasurer today at our meeting," said Bock. "I did not see it coming. I was totally flat footed."
"I remember telling him that I could not vote for him to be reappointed at this time, and I felt it would be best that tabling the appointment, and placing the treasurer on paid administrative leave would be the best option," said Ouellet.
Supervisor Kim Clear was not available today but promptly responded to Erie News Now's request for comment, confirming the administrative leave.
Erie News Now will continue to monitor this situation and let you know as soon as we learn more.
