The Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry have recently spearheaded an initiative aimed at combating the decline in population throughout Warren County.

The Warren Workx initiative is making strides to halt the concerning trend of population decline in Warren County. Per the Center for Rural Pennsylvania, Warren County is facing an 11% population decrease by the year 2050.

The Warren Workx board hosted a public meeting to address questions related to funding for the initiative, as they made a formal request for financial support, seeking $100,000.00 from both the city and county to implement their plan.

“Warren Workx is a new way of collaboration across Warren County for municipalities, municipal governments, businesses, non-profit organizations, across the board, to come together collaboratively to look at opportunities and challenges and projects that need to get completed in Warren," said James Decker, President and CEO of the Warren County Chamber of Business and Industry "We will be focusing entirely on improving and changing the trajectory of our population projections.”

City council members emphasized the need for transparency and accountability in ensuring that the funds are allocated efficiently to achieve the desired impact on the population decline.

Representatives from WCCBI acknowledged the inherent risks associated with such an initiative but stressed the importance of taking action to reverse the population decline.

“We need to find ways to creatively make sure that Warren County is a community of interest and desire for residents and businesses and it is going to take all of us coming together to work collaboratively to make that happen,” stated Decker.

Discussions are ongoing at the city and county buildings to determine if the funding request will be approved.
