ALBANY, NY (Erie News Now)--ON A DAY THAT WOULD HAVE COMMEMORATED THE 51ST ANNIVERSARY OF ROE V. WADE, LAWMAKERS IN ALBANY FOCUS THEIR ATTENTION ON REPRODUCTIVE AND MATERNAL HEALTH. 

“We’re making it clear that we will continue to champion policies that safeguard a person's right to choose and we will resist any attempts to roll back the progress that we have made,” said Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins (D-35th Senate District).

Monday, lawmakers seek to pass a series ofo bills to ADDRESS BARRIERS FACING REPRODUCTIVE HEALTHCARE, INCLUDING A bill TO ENACT THE REPRODUCTIVE FREEDOM AND EQUITY GRANT PROGRAM.  

“Which ensures that organizations that provide women’s healthcare including abortion are fully supported to fulfill their mission in a post Dobbs world. We want to preserve choice for women,” said Sen. Cordell Cleare (D-30th Senate District).

THE GRANT PROGRAM AIMS TO ENSURE FUNDING FOR ABORTION CARE PROVIDERS.  

OTHER LAWMAKERS HIGHLIGHT legislation AIMING TO PROTECT NEW YORKER’S PRIVATE HEALTH INFORMATION.  

“We’re protecting their privacy vis-a-vis computer systems tracking and then selling or sharing the data that they have no business having about me or any of us here or any of the decisions we’re making in healthcare,” said Sen. Liz Krueger (D-28th Senate District).
