Woman Found Dead Following Crash on Interstate 79 in Erie County

A woman was found dead following a crash on Interstate 79 in Erie County on Saturday.

It happened in the northbound lanes between the Edinboro and McKean exits around 8:30 p.m.

A grey vehicle ran off the interstate, over a ditch and into a wooded area where it was surrounded by trees.

It was a difficult place for emergency responders to reach, but they found a woman in her 30s dead from a gunshot wound she suffered while driving.

Her name has not been released. Investigators said she lived in Pittsburgh but has family in the Erie area.
