Pennsylvania Governor Josh Shapiro visited Erie Wednesday morning to address the Erie Regional Chamber and Growth Partnership during its annual meeting.

Shapiro focused his remarks, fittingly, around economic development. He says the state needs to invest more in helping businesses get started and grow, while eliminating bureaucratic red tape.

Although he'll lay out his full budget proposal on Tuesday, February 6, he's calling for a multi-million dollar investment to make shovel-ready sites for businesses.

He says Pennsylvania, Erie included, is falling behind neighboring states, and it's time to fight back.

The governor says he'll be back in Erie in a few months to watch April's total solar eclipse.
