In McKean County, a one-of-a-kind establishment has been capturing attention since 2018, not only for its unique spirits but also for its commitment to agricultural education.

The Wilds Sonshine Factory is more than just a distillery; it's a destination that combines craftsmanship with education.

Visitors are greeted with a distillery that not only houses the world’s longest table made from one piece of wood, but an art gallery, artisan shop, and an agricultural education center.

The Erie News Now team had the opportunity to speak with the General Manager of the facility, who shared insights into Wilds Sonshine, their trademarked creation.

“We create a unique distilled spirit called Sonshine," stated Taylor McConnell, General Manager of the Wilds Sonshine Factory. "It is a distilled spirit made from sunflowers, and is trademarked, so that the sunflowers for the spirits can only originate from the PA Wilds Region."

The commitment to local agriculture doesn't end there. The Wilds Sonshine Factory is home to an agricultural education center, that allows the public to learn more about the region.

“We also have an agricultural education center that is focused on Pennsylvania’s natural resources," added McConnell. "The center mainly focuses on timber, water and agriculture, along with the jobs that are available within those fields. There is also education on the sustainability aspects of the different natural resources and the importance of those natural resources in everyday life.”

The Wilds Sonshine Factory will be holding their first annual Sunflower Festival this summer, August 22nd through the 25th at their location in Kane.
