The Jefferson DeFrees Family Center in Warren Pennsylvania celebrated a milestone this weekend.

Since 2018, the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center, in collaboration with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library, have mailed out over 50,000 books to children throughout Warren County.

This weekend in partnership with the Warren County Kiwanis Club, the Jefferson DeFrees Family Center hosted a storybook breakfast.

Over 100 families attended the event, enjoying a pancake breakfast and meet and greet with favorite storybook characters. The Warren County Commissioners were on hand to celebrate the event as well and commemorate the 50,000 book achievement.

“The Imagination Library is something that I have wanted to bring to Warren County for a handful of years before it happened," stated Jennifer Madigan, Childcare Director for Jefferson DeFrees. "This was a really big day. Warren County often gets overlooked because its rural and we don't get some of the programs that we could be getting, so to know that 50,000 books have reached the hands of children under the age of five in Warren County, it is a big deal.”

The Jefferson DeFrees Family Center continues its mission for young readers with the Imagination Library and will be hosting more events throughout the year.
