Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis visited our area, calling for increased education spending.

Speaking at Erie County Community College, Davis touted Governor Josh Shapiro's budget proposal, which calls for more than a billion extra dollars in education spending.

Part of that plan involves making community colleges part of the state system of higher education.

Davis says schools like the Erie County Community College are critical to meeting the future workforce needs of the commonwealth, and state needs to invest in workforce development.

Although Davis and Shapiro are calling for significant increases in education spending, any plan needs approval from the republican-controlled state senate before it can be signed into law.
