State Police Arrest Man for Homicide of Pregnant, Amish Woman
Pennsylvania State Police have arrested a man for the homicide of a pregnant, Amish woman in the Spartansburg area on Monday.
Shawn Cranston, 52, of Corry, was taken into custody Friday on charges including homicide, homicide of an unborn child, burglary and trespass.
A family member found Rebekah Byler, 23, dead at the residence on Fish Flats Rd. in Sparta Township, Crawford County, just before 12:30 p.m. Monday, according to state police.
Investigators said they responded and found Byler, who was pregnant, dead at the scene. They have not disclosed how she was killed, but investigators said she suffered injuries to the neck and head.
Byler's two children were inside the home when she was discovered, troopers said.
Cranston was arraigned and taken to the Crawford County Prison without bond.
