Fort LeBoeuf Senior Recognized with C.L.A.S.S. Act Emerging Leader Award
A high school student was honored with the Northwest Pennsylvania C.L.A.S.S. Act Emerging Leader award on Wednesday.
Erie News Now surprised Fort LeBoeuf senior Kylie Peters with the honor.
She will receive a $1,000 scholarship thanks to VNET, Bethesda Lutheran Services, Erie County Community College and the IU5.
The volleyball captain and National Honor Society (NHS) vice president was nominated by her NHS advisor David Gerard.
She also works with him to create digital graphics for LeBoeuf sporting events.
He said her work ethic is unmatched.
"I struggled so much freshman year having to be perfect, but that really restrains you," said Peters. "It's good to take a break every once in a while to recenter yourself and set up a schedule. Like today, I want to focus on this and get that done and worry about the
"If you worry too much about the small details, you lose sight of the big picture what you're trying to do and what different you're trying to make," said Gerard. "I think Kylie does an exceptional job of keeping her eyes on the big picture to the point where it allows her to stay invested."
Peters said she plans to further her education in education and become a teacher.
