Find a bargain, help a veteran.

AMVETS thrift store has officially opened its doors, in the Liberty Plaza.

The non-profit organization helps veterans secure benefits and provides scholarships to veterans and their family members.

"We're excited to be here. Erie, we've had such an overwhelming support from Erie for veterans," said Keith Haley, AMVETS. "It's incredible. I don't think I've seen anything else like it in the country. I think we're right at home here."

The store offers clothing, electronics, furniture, and other household items. Monday was the soft opening of the store, which saw hundreds of customers hoping to score a deal.

All of the proceeds go towards the non-profit's mission, to help veterans and their families.

AMVETS plans to host an official grand opening of the store on March 30.
