Dive Crew Inspects Sunken Presque Isle House Boat Ahead of Salvage
A dive team from Lake Shore Towing Serves, Inc. took a closer look at the sunken house boat at Presque Isle's Horseshoe Pond.
President and Co-owner Erie Guerrein says the mud has made the job difficult, and says the cause of the sinking is not clear yet.
"We did a thorough inspection of it to check the dimensions of all the openings, dimensions of the barge and the house itself so we can put together a salvage plan to recover it," said Guerrein.
"We didn't find any indication at this point as to why it's sank, I'm sure we'll find that out later once we bring it up, but we're doing the preliminary work so that we can give a proposal to the houseboat owner to get it out of there."
Guerrein and his company will continue their underwater work to get the house boat out over the coming weeks, and hopes to get it out of the water soon after.
