Pennsylvania Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants & Children Celebrates 50th Anniversary
For women and children who are food insecure, there is one state service that has been providing nutritional support for 50 years.
Friday marks the 50th anniversary for Pennsylvania Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children. The program better known as WIC, marked its 50th anniversary with State Rep. Pat Harkins.
Since 1974, WIC has offered nutritional support and services to some of our nation's most vulnerable. WIC serves pregnant women, mothers of newborns or infants, infants, and children up to 5 years old. The government program is income and need based.
