Local nonprofits can now apply for the 2024 Ford Friendship Express program. 

According to Erie Ford Dealers, this year marks the 27th year for the philanthropic initiative where community groups and charitable organizations apply for the opportunity to receive a new Ford van. 

The Ford Friendship Express program was created by the Western New York Ford Dealers to share the gift of mobility with area nonprofits in need of reliable transportation. 

The program has donated more than 100 new vehicles to more than 75 local organizations. 

The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest Pennsylvania was the 2023 recipient. Additional recipients include Women's Care Center of Erie County, The Sight Center of Northwest Pa., The greater Erie Habitat for Humanity, and more. 

All nonprofit organizations operating within Erie, Crawford and Warren counties are eligible to apply. Application details include the following:

  • Applications and guidelines are available at www.buyfordnow.com under the “local events” tab.
  • Deadline to apply is July 31, 2024.
  • To be eligible for consideration in the Erie-area program, organizations must be located in Erie, Crawford or Warren counties.
  • Charities are encouraged to share stories that demonstrate their need for improved transportation.
