Fritz Niland was one of four siblings who served in the U.S. Military during WWII.

He was a paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division.

A total of six Niland family members were involved in the D-Day fight.

Two of the brothers were killed in action.

Another was held hostage for over a year.

P.S.-Behrend men's basketball coach Dave Niland is related to the brothers from Tonawanda, N.Y.

As the 80th anniversary of D-Day approaches, Dave Niland recalls the heroic efforts of his second cousins.
