Around the globe World Hunger Day is being recognized with acts of service to help feed those in need. Right here is our region, is no exception.

The Second Harvest Food Bank placed 1,500 orange plates outside of its building on Grimm Drive. The plates are a symbol of each student in Erie County, who relies on the food bank's back pack program.

The bags are handed out every Friday, to ensure each student has enough food for the weekend. According to Second Harvest, one out of every 5 children are experiencing food insecurity.

Last year, Second Harvest helped distribute nearly 10.4 million meals.
