The Erie County Department of Planning and Community Development and the Union Borough are co-hosting a trailhead launch and groundbreaking event at the Caflisch/Deveraux Park on Friday, September 13.

The event will be held at the park from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Friday.

Erie County Executive Brenton Davis will cut the ribbon on the trailhead at noon. Organizers said the groundbreaking will celebrate the trailhead installation and park improvements.

The trailhead installation and park improvements at Caflisch/Deveraux Park were partially funded by a grant from the Erie County Greenways Program .

Additionally, the new trailhead will begin to implement the Erie to Corry Trail Feasibility Study. The study, published in 2023, was produced to extend the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail through Erie County. The new trailhead is the first purpose-built trailhead for that extension.

The event will feature a walkthrough of the park improvements in the morning and a talk on the history of the Erie to Pittsburgh Trail in the evening. The Erie to Pittsburgh Trail Alliance will host the discussion.

The event is free and open to the public.
