The Irish Festival is a time to celebrate Irish heritage, with food, desserts and dance. Pastor of the St. Patrick's Church Father Mike DeMartinis said it's the people behind the festival that  make it all possible.

"What's most remarkable about the event is that people coming together from this parish in so many ways they create this team once a year that just comes together and throws this incredible community= building event for the entire city,” Fr. DeMartinis said.

The event had plenty of vendors, and a bake sale. Father DeMartinis said he hopes people get the chance to also see their church.

"The church is the most beautiful church around. I would just invite people to come and see it.  If for nothing else. But to eat some amazing food. Enjoy incredible music and fellowship. Come on down. We’re going to be here all weekend. The weather could not be better,” Fr. DeMartinis said.

This festival first started 31-years-ago, but the history behind the church it benefits goes much further.

“The church is very historical. The parish was founded in 1837. The concept began in 1893. It’s the third church of the parish,” one church volunteer Lavaughn Buchanan said.

Co-chair Vickie Lampe said this festival is a celebration for everyone, and there's something for everybody.

"So this is a big celebration for us. It’s a neighborhood celebration, inviting families down. We have a leprechaun village for the kids. This is an historic neighborhood, a historic church. There’s lots to celebrate,” Lampe said.
