12th Annual Cardboard Boat Regatta

 Participants ranging from all ages thought outside the box this year, Using tape, paint, and even glue to secure their boat from sinking in Lake Erie waters.
The director of the Bayfront Maritime Center, Chris Cusson discusses the benefits the race has on the community.


Chris Cusson said, "I think it's a fun event, engaging them on how to design a boat and how to make it float even out of cardboard."

Gary Lozowski the captain of the flying dutchman, shared that his favorite part of this summer long project was spending quality time with his family, and now being able to dress the part.
Gary Lozowski said, " It's been a fun project since May we have been playing around with it, might be 300 would be my best guess, it's a lot of hours."

Another competitor Tom Chandley requested for his birthday that his grand kids help assemble a boat for the race-an experience they will never forget
His granddaughter captained their families boat called the Gater Getter.
