Miss Pennsylvania Earth Throws out First Pitch at Erie SeaWolves Game

Someone special threw out the first pitch at Sunday's Erie SeaWolves game.

Haley Poe, Miss Pennsylvania Earth, was invited to throw out the first pitch against Bowie.

Poe is from Erie and is a pre-med student at Gannon University. She plans to study endocrinology and gynecology following graduation.

She was crowned Miss Pennsylvania Earth in 2024 and focuses on environmental advocacy and women’s health.

She was thrilled to throw out the first pitch.

"The last time I picked up a baseball was this morning," said Poe. "I was practicing my pitcher just a little bit before I came out here. I wanted to remind myself that I could, in fact, do it. Then the time before that was yesterday, where I practiced for about 20 minutes. I'm not super familiar with baseball, but we pulled it together today."

Poe will compete in Miss Earth USA in January in Orlando, Fla.
