A diesel tractor trailer erupted in flames shortly after 7:00AM Thursday, September 19th, after striking a barrier wall in a construction zone on Route 6 in Warren County.
The truck was traveling eastbound near the Ludlow Street exit when according to officials, it collided with the barrier in an area where construction workers were present.
The impact caused the truck to catch fire. Flames and smoke were visible for several miles.
Firefighters from the City of Warren quickly responded to the scene, and the driver managed to escape the vehicle without injury.
A Warren County Public Safety Official confirmed that no construction workers or firefighters were hurt during the incident, and all fuel from the truck was safely contained.
Police are urging drivers to slow down when passing through construction zones, stressing the heightened risk in active work areas.
The incident is still under investigation, with authorities working to determine the exact cause of the crash.
Due to the crash, Route 6 was closed for several hours to allow for cleanup, and traffic was diverted to alternative routes.
Construction in the area is expected to continue as planned.
