Erie News Now has an update on bridge work being done in North East.

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) is working on a project on Route 20 over 20 Mile Creek.

According to PennDOT Spokesperson Jill Harry, three sections of the bridge came down on Wednesday, as a crew was working to demolish the Erie County Bridge.

Harry is not calling what happened a collapse. She did says the sections came down quick due to the condition of the bridge.

The road is closed near that area, and all the workers are safe. There's about a dozen individuals on site working to demolish the aging bridge this year.

The area is set to re-open next fall.
