Pittsburgh Pirates Honor Pitcher Hosts Erie WWII Veteran

For every strikeout Paul Skenes records this season, he's donating $100 to the Gary Sinise Foundation.

A Foundation that supports Police, Firefighters, First Responders and the Military.

Skenes has over 150 k's with one start remaining on the season.

On Wednesday afternoon at PNC Park, Skenes hosting WWII Veteran Don Grumblatt from Erie.

A few months ago, during an interview we did with Skenes, the rookie pitcher learned about Grumblatt and his exercise routine at Springhill Senior Living.

Not long ago, the soon to be 98-year-old enjoyed doing cannonballs.

That's when Skenes wanted to meet Don.

They spent some time together during batting practice and Skenes autographed several baseballs for Don after their conversation.

Wednesday mark the 80th anniversary when Don left Erie for boot camp.
