Restitution in the cases totals $680,303.
All but one of the defendants face felony charges while the other is charged with a misdemeanor. They are accused of either trafficking their public assistance or misrepresenting their household circumstances to fraudulently received taxpayer-funded public benefits.
If convicted, the maximum penalty is seven years in prison and a fine of $15,000. In the case of SNAP, Cash Assistance, or Subsidized Day Care fraud, they also face a mandatory disqualification period.
