The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) will begin a $3.2 million project to repair portions of Interstate 79 and Route 80 in Mercer and Venango Counties on Tuesday, October 2.
The project will include 26 miles of Interstate 79 in both northbound and southbound directions in Mercer County, and 27 miles of Interstate 80 in both eastbound and westbound directions in Mercer and Venango counties.
PennDOT says work will will be done in sections on the interstate as needed and will include milling and paving, concrete patching and new pavement markings. Minor repairs will also be done on eight bridges.
Construction is expected to be completed by August 22, 2025.
Lane restrictions will be needed to complete work. Drivers should be alert for traffic pattern shifts and anticipate travel delays during active work hours.
More information on the project can be found on PennDOT's website.
